Recording Your Weight and Measurements

Weight Wizard gives you an easy to use journal for keeping track of your weight and measurements. It also provides several ways of reminding you to take weighings and measurements in the Calendar and Profile layouts. Any entries in the Weight & Measurements Journal are used to create graphs and charts to help with monitoring your weight loss progress. When you create a new profile in Weight Wizard you select a goal weight and goal date. The Weight & Measurements Journal allows you to keep track of your weight loss over time and to tell if you are staying on course toward your goal date.

Using the Weight & Measurements Journal

The Weight & Measurements Journal allows you to keep track of your weight loss progress and your measurements.

Weight and Measurements

Anything added to the weights or measurements Journal shows up in the graphs and calculations that Weight Wizard creates. To add a weight to the Weight Journal, simply click on the Add button over the weights portal. Any weights that are added show up immediately in the portal below. The portal also shows how much weight you have lost since your last weighing and your total weight loss. You can click on the Weights button to see a quick graph of your weight loss over time.

The Measurements Journal is completely optional. To add a measurement to your Measurements Journal, simply click on the Add button. Any measurements that are added immediately show up in the portal below. To view a graph of your measurements over time, click on the Measurements button.

Using the Profile and Calendar Reminders

Weight Wizard provides several types of reminders to help you remember when to take weighings and measurements. These reminders were first selected when you created a new profile. It's important to make a routine of weighing and taking measurements on the same days every week. Weight Wizard makes this easy by reminding you in key areas.

The Profile Reminders

Profile Reminders

The Profile layout is the first layout that opens when you start Weight Wizard. The reminders field shows any weighings or measurements that you have scheduled for the current day in green. Any weighings or measurements that you have missed are shown in red.

The Calendar Reminders

Profile Reminders

The Calendar shows reminders as icons in the top of each day. The gold scale icon and the measurement tape icon show that you have a weighing and measurement scheduled for the current day.

Checking the Calendar periodically can help you plan out your week in advance, so you don't forget to take a weighing or measurement.

If you need to change the reminders, for any reason, they can be changed in the Profile Settings window.

Using the Weight and Measurement Graphs

The Weight & Measurements Journal provides two easy to read graphs. These can be viewed by clicking on either the Weights or Measurements button in the Journal.

The Weight Graph

Weight Graph

The weight graph allows you to easily tell if you are staying on track. The blue line shows any weighings that have been added to the Weight Journal. The red line at the top shows your starting weight and the green line at the bottom shows your goal weight. The yellow line, running diagonally, shows your projected weight.

Ideally, you want the blue line to cover the yellow line. This would mean that your actual weight matches up with your projected weight. In the example above, you can see that the blue line covers the the yellow line for most of the graph. At the far right of the graph you can see that the blue line is above the yellow line. This shows that the actual weight has varied slightly from the projected weight and that you aren't losing weight quite as fast as expected. If the blue line dips below the yellow line, it would indicate that you are losing weight faster than expected.

If the blue line varies significantly from the yellow line you might want to adjust your calorie budget. This can be done in the Profile Settings window.

The Measurements Graph

Measurements Graph

The measurements graph is similar to the weights graph. It shows the total inches or centimeters, from all body parts, that have been lost over time. This gives you a good general idea if you are losing as expected.

There is a more detailed graph of your measurements, which includes specific body parts, in the Graphs layout of Weight Wizard.
